Our practice specializes in different forms of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), including primarily but not limited to, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Massage/Tui Na, etc.
Acupuncture: A pillar of TCM, with thousands of years of history, originated in ancient China. It is a non-invasive medical system which uses fine, sterile needles to stimulate specific acu-points on human body which activate the body's Qi and promotes natural healing. It can stimulate immune system, help with pain management, improve overall health, and can be effective for a variety of health issues. Please read here for a more comprehensive list of health issues that Acupuncture (sometimes, in combination with Chinese Herbs) can be helpful for.
Chinese Herbs/Herbology: One of the more important modalities utilized in TCM. Each herbal medicine is a mix of natural herbs (sometimes many types of) specially tailored to the individual. Often used in combination with Acupuncture, it has been shown to be helpful for many conditions.
Moxibustion: Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called "moxa" are burned on or very near the surface of the skin. The intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences.
Massage/Tui Na: Tui Na uses a variety of hand techniques and stretching to restore correct anatomical muscular-skeletal relationships, neuromuscular patterns, and to increase the circulation of Qi and Blood to remove biochemical irritants. Acu-points may be selected to rebalance and harmonize the flow of Qi and Blood through the organ meridians in order to facilitate healing and prevent further injury.
